THE VINE AND THE LAMPSTAND

Message Four
The Lampstand
(2)
The Blossoming of Resurrection Life and
the Growth in Life for the Divine Expression

The title of message four is The Lampstand (2)—The Blossoming of Resurrection Life, and the Growth in Life for the Divine Expression. For the divine expression in message four equals for the building in message three.

THE SYMBOL OF THE GOLDEN LAMPSTAND INDICATES
THAT THE TRIUNE GOD IS A LIVING TREE,
GROWING, BUDDING, AND BLOSSOMING

If we study the record of the lampstand in Exodus 25 with the help of the Lifestudy, we will see that in the divine thought, this lampstand is actually a tree. There are branches, calyxes with buds. Eventually this bud will blossom. Something is growing, budding and blossoming here like a living tree. We can almost say that this is really the tree of life, the vine. The lampstand is organic. This is God’s design.

The lampstand is a growing tree. To establish a church is actually to plant a tree and to set up a lampstand. It would be a great blessing if all the churches in Malaysiawere growing trees. At the end of this year we do not have to be full-grown, just as we do not expect a teenager to be full-grown. But in normal circumstances, the lampstands in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Manjung and Johor Bahru for instance are growing. This is normal. But someone needs to watch over this. If the trees are not growing, there is something wrong. We need to seek the Lord for help. As the lampstand is a growing tree and we the believers in Christ are parts of this wonderful tree in resurrection, we need to have these four things: the divine nature, the divine life, the Spirit and the shining light. This brings us to the heart of this message.

THE CUPS SHAPED LIKE ALMOND BLOSSOMS
SIGNIFY THE RESURRECTION LIFE BLOSSOMING

In Numbers 17, there was a dispute over authority. Moses told the children of Israel to take a rod for each tribe and place them in the Holy Place overnight. That night signifi es a long period of suff ering. Then in the morning signifying a new start in resurrection, everyone came and picked up his rod. With the eleven of them, there was no change. But Aaron’s rod was budding, blossoming and producing almonds. These almonds signify resurrection life. The cups on the branches shaped like almond blossoms and that signifi es resurrection life blossoming. They are shaped not merely
like almonds themselves but the blossoms. This is resurrection life blossoming. This blossoming is urgently needed in the Lord’s recovery. Where there is blossoming there is the real ministry of life. Now we are part of the lampstand as a growing tree. If we are willing to experience resurrection, with us there will be almond blossoms. The light comes from the blossoming of resurrection life.

The Principle of Resurrection is that the Natural Life is Killed
and that the Divine Life Rises Up to Take its Place

In 2 Cor. 1:9, Paul says “Indeed we ourselves had the response of death in ourselves, that we should not base our confi dence on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.” The apostles with their ministry were willing for their natural life to be killed, knowing that the divine life would rise up in its place. This experience is part of the law of the lampstand. The life principle or the law of the lampstand requires everything to be in resurrection.

To be in Resurrection Means that Our Natural Life is Crucified,
and Then the God-created and Redeemed Part of Our Being
is Uplifted in Resurrection to be One With Christ in Resurrection

When we do not live by our natural life but by the divine life within us, weare in resurrection. This is a deeper experience. We have seen that we are parts of this growing tree. We are parts of the lampstand. Now the law of life in the lampstand requires us to be in resurrection. Therefore we need to learn to live not by our natural life, but by the divine life in our spirit. This is resurrection. The issue of our experience of Christ as the resurrection life is the Body of Christ.

The Body of Christ is an Organism Absolutely in the Resurrection Life of Christ;
In Order to be in the Reality of the Body of Christ,
We Need to be Absolutely in the Resurrection Life of Christ

In the record in John 11, the Lord wanted to raise the dead. He wanted to be resurrection life and opinion was standing in the way. Before the Lord could raise Lazarus, all the opinions needed to be subdued. All the Marthas, all the Marys, all
the disciples and all the crowd needed to keep quiet. We want Him to be the God of prevention. But He wants to be the God of resurrection. He wants a testimony absolutely in resurrection. He cannot forever prevent the suff erings in the natural realm. The Body of Christ is in resurrection. The lampstand is a tree in resurrection. Who is willing to
experience the God of resurrection in the lampstand and for the lampstand?

The Reality of Resurrection is Christ as the Life-giving Spirit

If we do any work that is not in resurrection, the life-giving Spirit will not honor it. The Spirit honors only what is in resurrection.

The Golden Lampstand Portrays Christ as the Resurrection Life,
Growing, Branching, Budding, and Blossoming to Shine the Light

The lampstand is a growing tree. The cups are shaped like almond blossoms. This tree portrays Christ as the resurrection life. This is part of our testimony. Christ is resurrection. Resurrection is the key that opens the book of Acts. The apostles were witnesses of the Lord’s resurrection. The church as a lampstand is a testimony of the
resurrection life of Christ. Christ as the resurrection life is growing, branching, budding and blossoming to shine the light. The blossoming of resurrection life is the shining light. The shining of the divine light is upheld by the resurrection life. Without the resurrection life, we have nothing to uphold, support, and sustain our shining of the divine light. Resurrection is the basis for the shining of the divine light. Thus, if we would shine forth the light of life, we must be in resurrection.

THE DESCRIPTION OF THE LAMPSTAND
CONVEYS THE IDEA OF GROWTH

The lampstand is something that grows. The calyx under each pair of branches indicates the growth of life. The branches of the lampstand are produced through the growing of life. The branches signify the branching out of Christ’s resurrection life. With the lampstand the matter of responsibility for growth is greater than the matter of shining. This means that growth is basic. Since the lampstand typifies Christ, it indicates that Christ is the one who is growing.

However, Christ Himself does not grow. He cannot grow. He is already the infinite God. But Christ is growing in us. The growing of the lampstand is the growing of Christ in us. The stand is growing through the branches and within them. This indicates that Christ is growing in us. We need Christ to grow in us. It is crucial for all the branches to give the lampstand a free way to grow in them and through them. We need to open our being to the Lord and give Him room in us. How much light there will be in the church depends on the extent to which Christ has a way to grow in us and through us. The more the lampstand grows in the branches, the more it will blossom and shine, and the more light there will be.

NORMAL EXPERIENCE IS GRADUAL,
LITTLE BY LITTLE, DAY BY DAY

Praise the Lord for this message. The revealing of each point is to get us impressed. Every point is for us to experience. Nevertheless we need to realize that the normal experience is gradual. It is litt le by litt le, day by day. Much of the time we are not conscious of what is happening. We merely need to exercise our faith. Christ is making His home in our hearts through faith. We exercise our spirit of faith and at the same time we love the Lord. We are so simple in practice. We say, “Lord, I love You. I believe into You. I believe You are increasing in me. Lord, I pray, grow in me, grow through
me. Grow for the lampstand, grow for the building.” Then you simply believe the Lord hears such a prayer. Then gradually our experience will develop, and we will experience every detail of the golden lampstand. Then as the local churches we will be the lampstand not only in position, but also in reality.
